Behind bidless stands no startup but a Basel house that since 1996 has done nothing else than test, appraise and trade gold, silver, platinum, jewels and watches. Whatever goes online here, somebody held in their hand first.
The house
Goldboerse.ch was founded in Basel in 1996 and has traded gold ware, silver, platinum, precious-metal recycling, jewels and watches ever since. In 2016 GOLDBOERSE.CH AG joined it, when the business found its way online. Consumer magazines have honoured the house several times; the television programme Kassensturz ranked it first in its test.
bidless is the next step: the same checking, the same specialists, but a marketplace where the price is not negotiated — it falls, until someone takes it.
Founder and visionary Pierre Seker
The owner brings more than three decades in the precious-metals market. When Swiss television wants the movement of the gold price explained, he is the one in the studio; most recently on “10 vor 10”, on the interplay of Chinese demand and geopolitical conflict.
He trains his team himself, continuously, and takes courses himself. Not out of duty, but because the market shifts every month and a house that stands still advises its customers worse than it did before.
