Frequently asked questions

What our customers ask most often. +41 61 262 37 38, info@bidless.ch.

The falling-price auction

How does a falling-price auction work?
The price starts high and falls in small steps, around the clock. Nobody bids, and there is no hammer. Whoever buys first gets the piece at the price of that moment.
Why not simply wait for the floor price?
Because you are not the only one watching. Every piece exists exactly once. The further the price falls, the more people hold a finger over the button. Waiting costs nothing until it costs everything.
How far does the price fall?
To the floor price and not a franc further. The floor price is shown on the auction page from the first day.
What happens if nobody buys?
The price starts over. A cycle runs 15 days; after that the price jumps back to the starting price and falls again, as long as booked cycles remain.
The price shown differs from mine. Which one counts?
The one calculated on our servers. Your device calculates along for the display, but the server value is binding; otherwise a badly set clock would decide the purchase price.

Authenticity and condition

Is authenticity verified?
Yes. Every piece passes through the hands of our specialists before it goes online: authenticity, condition, weight, stones, papers. Behind it stands a house that has traded precious metals, watches and jewels since 1996.
Is the merchandise new?
In most cases these are second-hand pieces. They may show signs of wear. We describe the condition on every auction page as precisely as we can.
Is there a warranty?
If a piece has been refurbished by our specialists or passed a quality check, and this is noted with the item, a three-month warranty applies from receipt. It covers neither further wear nor damage you cause yourself.

Buying, payment and shipping

Do I need an account?
To buy, yes. Browsing and saving to the watchlist works without one.
How can I pay?
The available payment methods appear during checkout. Payment runs through a specialised provider; card details never reach our servers.
How is it delivered?
Insured and discreetly packed, worldwide. For deliveries abroad, customs duties and import taxes may apply and are yours to bear.
Can I return an item?
Registered customers may return within 14 days of receipt. The item must come back complete and undamaged. Details are in the terms and conditions.
Something is wrong with my delivery.
Tell us on the day of delivery at info@bidless.ch. A photo of the fault helps settle the matter at once.

Selling

Can I sell something through bidless myself?
Yes. Write to info@bidless.ch or call us. We look at the piece, appraise it and tell you openly what it is worth.
What does listing cost?
Runtime is booked in cycles, one cycle lasts 15 days. We name the prices in conversation, once we have seen the piece.
What does bidless keep from the proceeds?
Twenty per cent of the price achieved. The house does not buy, it brokers: your piece stays yours until it sells. The minimum payout is fixed before listing and equals eighty per cent of the floor price; if the piece sells earlier and therefore higher, your payout is higher.
